Thank you to Bronwen who’s cake raffle raised over £200 for this year’s Captain’s charity – Prostate Cancer
After a damp start, Saturday’s round of the Ryder Cup matches turned out to be a mild Autumn day and the better of the weekend. Sunday’s Turkey Trot was meant to be cloudy but remain dry. Some chance! Persistent rain throughout the day! Hopes were sadly high that the rain would disappear as we left the warm clubhouse and trudged out to our tees for the 8.30am shotgun start.
Our team of Jaggsy, Simon B, myself and The Winkle… well… we turned up I suppose. We managed get round in the rain, securing low middle-table. By the time we were playing out of a sodden left hand bunker on the 3rd after all 4 shots (!), any aspirations of ‘mediocrity’ were dashed. Cue more grumbling at Jaggsy’s agreement to a bet against Phil’s team on our behalf. That was a fiver-per-head doomed to be leaving our wallets. We did have a good fourball though, lots of bants usually concerning a certain Winkle who decided against team Xmas jumpers with his batman outfit.

Clinging on to past days when Turkey trot was in December, our team (mostly) decided to start out with Christmas jumpers
Made it back to the clubhouse dumping our wet gear and the usual golfing woes were shared over a pint or three.
Turns out the the heavyweight group of TeamBeef certainly thinned out the ProShop of XXL’s tops by winning the day. Well done to Ben, Wayne, Tom and Scottie. Great golf in the conditions… few ups and downs it seems. I heard it featured an eagle on the 14th, well done, and a remarkable pitch shot almost straight sideways from Wayne on the 1st… um, well done?

Prize Giving
Dom and Chris ran through the prizes very smoothly, good job chaps. Congrats to all the winners (yes… even Winkle) and well done the runners-up.
Another solid haul for the Swashies this year. Tony took home silverware winning two board comps, Simon B & C & G all did very well, the Winks, Waynus, serial winner Macve as per, Richard, the Beef and The Feez.
Special note for the in-form Northern Petal in just missing out on the Club Champs this year… roll on 2019 Scottie.
And of course, well done for our Presidents Bowl winner and Club Champ 2018 winner, Mr Alan “where’s my fiver” Tweed. Congrats.

Ryder Cup ‘came home’ (?)
Well done the Swashies in securing the Ryder Cup again this year. Top result, and the cup was collected on the day from a grudging Dom by Team Captain Wayne.
Oh, there were also some other prizes….

Well done Hew, nice post. And, it will probably be the only reference of who won what this year!
Your keyboard seems to have a fault with Marks, name, or maybe it’s standard.
I have pics of all the Swashy winners, except me, will send to you.
Thanks Phil.
Yeah funny that, when it came to one name the font came out a bit differently. Ho hum 🙂
I’ve seen the transfer, and if the website capacity accepts it I can put a small gallery up this evening.
