Mentioned this in recent rounds, I was impressed how the Farleigh fellah in the league match was popping in low "grabbing" pitches into a couple of flags. Bounce bounce grab. A great shot. Yes you need a decent spinning ball, clean grooves but the actual technique is one that I'd like to work on.
Discussed this with Scottie Yule the other week, ...

Get well soon Denzil!
The Swindle's best wishes go out to Denzil, who is currently stuck in hospital with gall stones.
Surrey National is definitely not that same without a certain Mr Denzil "When I played football..." Hope being heard on the 9th green from the 6th fairway. ...

Surrey National take an important away win at Woldingham
With the threat of heavy rain being imposed on us from weather reports all week, the day itself turned out to be hot and sunny with a nice breeze. As Sean managed to avoid any penalty from rolling his water proof trousers to his knees, we all tee'd off to try and step up to only our second away game so far in the league.
Captain Sean's Match ...

Grant… in full technicolour
Brian and Pam hosted a karaoke soiree at theirs over the weekend. Enjoyed by all especially as the evening was brightened up considerably by Grant in his um, summer suit?
If Grant was ever to saunter down the catwalk in this, announcer Mr Jim Doran would describe this as a "surfing headmaster... on vacation". ...

Head and shoulders above the rest. Phil wins.
Well done Phil.
A fantastic Open again this year at Muirfield. The mens club-only chat aside, which should be sorted out asap anyway, nothing was taken away from the fantastic spectacle that is the Open golf.
The idea of tipping someone is to actually make a bet... which I didn't. So inevitably Phil came through the last round to take the well ...

The Oxfordshire July 2013
Two days of cracking weather on a great course. Hotel was nice but less said about the food the better... was a horror show to be honest.
Big thanks initally to Phil for getting the Lingfield plan into place... and of course Sean for then swinging into action for an alternative venue and the the organising of the competitions.
Simon took the ...

Muirfield 2013 – Who is your money on?
This week sees the Open Championship start, weather likely to be good... not sure what the wind is doing (does anyone?).
Masters champ Andrew Scott must be up there, Phil won the Scottish Open yesterday on the 73rd and is always there or there abouts. Justin Rose must fancy a chance if he can recapture form from a month or two ago and Westwood ...

Wayne takes Blue Bogey 2013
On the hotest day of the year so far, Wayne takes the Blue Bogey on countback from Captain Loveless, both being a very creditable 3up on the course.
Swashbucklers came in 1st and 2nd in yesterday's Blue Bogey with other notables being Alan Saviile at 2up, and Scottie Yule 1up.
Bit of an oven with temperatures about 30degrees, the course was in ...

Scott burns up Surrey National
Monthly Stableford today and with the soaring temperatures, the scoreboard saw some cracking scores with 6 Swashbucklers in the top ten. Scott, myself, Graham A, Phil, Winkle, and Lee all featuring in the first 10, with the weather up to a fantastic 30degrees in just a light breeze - a great day for golf.
I thought I'd come in with a decent ...
