Fantastic weather over the early May Bank Holiday weekend for the Anniversary Cup. Not a major, but a board competition, teams of fourballs head out with best two scores on each hole being counted for the round.
High eighties is generally up there and Dave Francis, Lee Stringer, Rob Bailey and new member Richard Morgan romped it on Sunday by a 4, returning and impressive final total of 89pts. Dom, Jay and two Steve’s runners up with 85pts from Saturday.
Congratulations to the winners, and well done Dave Francis who was telling us about literally a tap-in eagle on the 12th (yep with a shot). Well done.
Winkle shoots his lowest ever round on Monday.
Now I could take this post in a number of directions. Certainly a few choice, humourous photos of said Mr Winkle could be added in here. And could be well received by many, if surely not the man himself. However, well worth a wee post on a great round of golf.
(I’ll be brief but fair warning, I suspect you may hear him retell this around the club a ‘few’ times.)
From some slightly indifferent golf in our team in the Cup comp on Sunday, it seems a different Mark was out in the sun on Monday.
Swindle had 11 on Monday I think and Mark was out in the last 4ball. RitchieBigDogBandito was up to his usual tricks, and came in with a very impressive 39pts, surely enough for the money on any other day.
However, up strolled in Mr Winkle with a fantastic 40pts off his Swindle handicap. A gross 79! First time ever breaking 80 – a cracking achievement for any golfer. Par birdie Par finish I think?
Down to a Swindle handicap of 9 after that win, and a general-play cut on his offical handicap to 10.8 Single figures next Mr Winks. Top golf.
