We had two ‘best ever rounds’ on Sunday in the early October Stableford from our very own Simon Bailey and Mark Wheddon. In fact overall we had 3 placed in the top 5 if we throw Mr Tully into the mix. A great result.
Diabolical weather on Saturday albeit towards the of the of competition, but Sunday was an absolute cracker of an Autumn day. Of note was James (Carter’s) round of 39 in the wet on Saturday. Well played James who pipped Tully into 4th place only on countback.
Jaggsy and I played with Winkle on Sunday and it was almost comical watching him drop some outragous putts. Have to be fair to Mr Winks, he got up and down time and time (and time) again. Very solid golf and a great round, 22pts on the front 18 on the back with a gross 78…. his lowest (… to date!).
Simon and Mattie Strong were the last out in the comp who also played their pairs match (the semi) in the Summer betterball against our own Backdoor Johnny and the Yeti. The match finished 8&6 to Simon and Matt, well done both, helped with Simon’s 3-birdie run from the 7th. Clearly on blistering form, Simon impressively held it all together to return a fantastic 45pts with a gross one over par73. Awesome golf. Cant see gross report on Masterscoreboard but I’m assuming it came out on top.
Simon down to 8.6, and Winkle breaking into single figures for the first time with a cut to 8.5. Great golf from both Simon and Winkle.
