Saturday was a corker of a late Winter’s day. Mild and bright sunshine. Poor old James M’s face fell twice from being in the chair at the end of the round looking likely to winning some decent wedge, only to have the ol’ campaigner Geoff take the overall and back nine with an impressive 39points.
In other news, Matt Strong was at it again parring the 18th with four drivers. I sneaked in an eagle chipping in from 70 yards on the 8th. Brian C braved his man-flu to play but couldnt better 21pts with Pam at the other end of the field.
Captain Loveless wanted a picture for a promotional item, so as its the only one I have of the weekend, here it is! Sean was determined to first “do his hair” and then only asked what it was for.
Jezza’a 60th was actually on Sunday and he definitely had a good night before celebrating, only to be woken at 4am by his son and his son’s girlfriend with flour and water! Why? Dunn0, ask Jezza! Fair play, he turned up for his Stableford time with myself and Johnny C, but sadly wasn’t at his best, gathering a mighty 4points on the front nine.. However, he rallied magnanimously smashing 11pts on the back with the help of a sossie sandwich after the 9th.
In the main comp, Scottie was bang in form with a gross 71 taking the overall Stableford with points to spare (and the Swindle fivers). 42pts off of 5, awesome scoring and apparently could’ve been better!
[I’ll update this enxt bit when the club eventually updates MasterScoreBoard] Lots of Swashbucklers in the top10, but barely a couple of points chipped off Mr Sav’s lead at the top of the Order of Merit! Mr Gollop is now giving Captain Loveless something to think about as well.
Pity Scotties’ scoring prowess wasn’t passed over to the BlackCats who put up a great fight against Citeh in the League Cup Final but came out losing 3-1 in the end. Matt Strongbow was at Wembley, not doubt recovering hard today. More news is that Teresa is still on the mend and back in about 3weeks!
In the clubhouse, lots of talk was about the Swashbucklers Vs. The Originals next week (aka Jerry’s-Actrics)… people playing themselves in/out of contention. Next Sunday will prove to be entertaining. I think team is being picked this week but maybe next Saturday’s Swindle will be a last chance to fight for a place (and the captain’s to justify their place! ha)
Don’t forget to check out the Marrakech post written by Graham A, few more photo’s added from Janine and Tracey.
Name the Swindler who “represented” Great Britain in La Manga after getting a hole in one a few years ago. Answers (not) on a postcard.
