Soggy underfoot but the weekend gave two great days for mid-January golf. Sunday was smashing! Decent two days meant we enjoyed a Swindle of 14 on Saturday (with a few comp’ing) and the Stableford on Sunday.
Jaggsy hit form with 40-points to scoop over £70 for front and overall in Saturday’s swindle. Swindle did very well overall, with a standard scratch of 34 points which hasnt been that high since end of last summer I think. The 4-ball of myself, Strongbow, Winkle and Waynetta enjoyed a total of 9 birdies in the game, with Wayne coming very close for an eagle on the 12th.
Brian Chamberlain falls over twice on the Saturday, observed going over walking down the 4th fairway (with noone near him), he apparently had a helicopter swing which turned him on his arse later in the round.
Oh and Simon B would like everyone to know that as of Saturday he’s was 4th best in our Swindle in the Eclectic (cumulative best score per hole in competitions).
Sav’s Smashes (another) Comp
With winter sun straining the eyes on Sunday, Al Saville extended his Order of Merit lead with a Fiver-Swindle winning 40-points.
After the pro shop delayed publishing the overall result till today (!), I see that the Sav-Man also scooped top honours on countback. That surely puts him in a very strong position on the Order. And conveniently keeps him on his handicap. pulling a 40points on a non-qualifier is very good planning but he does need to keep his head down should Mr Stock feel an exceptional cut coming on.
Al Gol-Bandit had a very impressive coming in 4th place. Scottie Yule came in 9th and grabbed lowest gross across the weekend.
