Captains Sean’s Report:
For those who were not around yesterday – It was an honourable draw, which is not a bad result against arguably our strongest competition. It is definitely tougher this year – A Par no longer guarantees you a half, and you generally have to birdie to win.
On a bright, but cold February, special mentions for those that won –
- Daisy – the biggest margin I can remember anyone ever wining by at 6 &5 – Barry was on the ropes before he left the clubhouse – the “losing to a girl” thing really messed with his head!
- Wayne – Dr Golf is still struggling to understand the diagnosis – Wayne changed gear after the turn to shot five straight pars in a row, which left Joe wondering what happened
- Steve Mc & Sean – We specialised in delivering a series of daggers to their hearts, whenever they thought they might win a hole (e.g. Steve sunk a 40 footer from way off the green on the 6th & I chipped in on the 15th )
But strangely, what really made the difference to the match were those who dug deep and ground it out to the end to secure halves – Well done to Max and Brian & Matt J
And for the others – You had seriously tough competitions – someone had to draw the short straw.
So one more round before the final – Let’s hope we can takes some serious scalps against Bobs Bashers –It is the Saturday after next = 23rd Feb. It wold be great to field our strongest side, and go into the final with a few more points. What with the snow and so little time before the next round the rankings are unlikely to change much so please could all the usual suspects confirm availability.
We are not doing too badly – not lost a match and only one behind the leaders.
