Swashie captain Wayne will hopefully updating this post with a full match report.
For now we can report a hard fought 8 all draw with the determined Early Birds. Captain Mass was keen to announce that their pool of players literally stretched to 12 and I think was chuffed with his team’s great performance.
The Jaggs and I were up against the old campaigners of Dave Little and Andre. Slightly perplexed at how we gave them 11 shots…. each… Jaggsy and I played ok but really couldn’t get close to them. Dave’s driving was certainly creative and “right”, but even with losing two balls from nowhere, on other holes he always seemed to end up putting for a par or bogey… with a shot! Despite pulling back from being 5 down at one point to only two, we couldn’t keep any momentum going and we were shaking hands on the 16th.
The hard fought final pairings of singles came in with Simon halving on the last against Andy G, and Tony taking his match against Jackson to the last hole only to miss out by 1.
That left us 8-8 and I think a fair result on the day. Well done all.
