First off, Happy New Year.
Fingers crossed the weather sorts itself out in next few weeks. Be nice for a dry spell for the course, but we all know we actually need a cold snap so planned work can go ahead on the course, let alone the greenkeepers can go near the greens and fairways for the regular trims.
A week or two of hard frosts would be ideal (no doubt we’ll be trudging off down to Seaford if that happens.
I know a number of Swindle games have been played over the festive period, and a few more to squeeze in before the reality of Monday and work kicks back in for us all. (Yes yes, you retire’ee’s amongst us can laugh all you want)….
Lee Feez won today playing off a Swindle handicap of 1 with a superb 32 points… noone got close to him. Awesome golf. Some heroics on the 10th i heard (holing a shot from a downhill lie from left bunker), and, playing in front of his group, we saw he very very nearly holed a 5iron for an albatross on the 12th. He got the eagle (we all thought is was his 3rd shot in!).
So, off plus1 now Mr Feez, a cracking round mate well done. “Proper golf” Mr Macve would say. Lowest Swindle winner off of a Swindle handicap of 1 that I know of. Poor auld Scottie’s probably shedding a tear after his 36points off plus1 didn’t win on his great round this year.
Special Note (II)
Many thanks to Mr Danny “Big Levers” Betts who today enterained us all by wiping out again… this time on the 12th fairway covering himself with mud. Not a day to do that with a lime green tshirt.
An unkown contribor sent over this link to an “Andy Gorman-esque” swing, definitely deserves a rip onto Youtube. Ta jim. Enjoy and happy new year.
One photo I didnt add after going to the London Golf Show @Bluewater last month was this treat that Jerry and I saw. Please ask Mr Gorman for any putting lessons next time you see him. Is it our Andy?
