The Real Winners – the “whole” of the Swashbucklers Swindle!
Well, in advance of other reports (plus that I’m away for a few days), the big news from the weekend was that The Swashbucklers successfully retained the Swindle Ryder Cup on Saturday for an impressive 3rd year running, with the second team of “The Originals” taking a superb 2nd place! A Swashbucklers one-two!
As the departing Chairman Dave Little announced, after an inter-Swindle competition spanning 5-months the Swashbucklers took the title. Perhaps a few groans and grunts around the clubhouse but I think the general nod was that we were the worthy winners on the day.
The previous rounds of head-to-head matches left the Swashbucklers enter the final day a nose or two ahead. (A big nose if you used Mr Graham ‘Lovely’ as a measure). It really does come down to the final day as each of the four Swindles put a member into team of fourballs to shoot it out for stableford positioning of a winning order of 3, 2, 1 and zero points.
